According to statistics from the Pilbara Ports Authority, the iron ore exports in Port Hedland, one of the major iron ore exporting ports in Western Australia, totaled around 53.1 million tons in May, rising by 13.7% compared to the previous month and by 2.2% from the same month a year ago. Among them, shipments to China totaled about 45.4 million tons, a month-on-month increase of 10.5% and a year-on-year growth of 0.2%, driven by Chinese steelmakers maintaining high hot metal production. South Korea was the second largest recipient with 4.3 million tons, followed by Japan’s 1.6 million tons.
