10 Yr Plan for Pak foundry industry
Foundry Industry of Pakistan jointly with the Engineering Development Board (EDB) has planned to prepare a 10-year Foundry Machinery Development Programme (FMDP). Ministry of Industries, Production and Special Initiatives had convened a special meeting to discuss this. To chalk out the plan, a task force will soon be constituted & Pakistan Foundry Association will nominate its chairman to represent the private sector.
Secretary General of PFA, Mr Asim Qadri, headed the PFA delegation & Mr A H Choudhry headed the team from EDB. A ten year vision plan will be developed for the growth of foundry industry.
At the request of PFA, The EDB will participate & also sponsor the forthcoming Second International Foundry Congress and Exhibition 2007 scheduled to be held on 5-6 December in Lahore being organized by the Pakistan Foundry Association. He specially requested for assistance in obtaining visas for the Indian delegates. Last year a 47 member strong delegation from India participated in the congress organised by PFA.
Vice-Chairman, Advisory Committee, Mr Imtiaz Rastgar informed the meeting that the Pakistani government has allowed import of foundry machinery from India in the current budget. He also emphasised the need to encourage new investments and new technologies.
