MMTC got USD 306 FOB for exports of pig iron
After canceling the first inviting tenders, India state run Minerals and Metals Trading Corporation called the second tender for 30,000 tonne of pig iron shipped in July to August last weekend. Steel Base Trade AG of Switzerland won with the higher bid of USD 306.15 per tonne FOB.
Steel Base Trade also offered the highest bid in the first tender opening at USD 301.5 per tonne FOB, but MMTC wasn't satisfied with this price and called it off.
Meanwhile, local Vizag Steel also called for a bid for pig iron delivered in July to August. UK steel trader Stemcor won the whole 25,000 tonne at the price of USD 302 per tonne FOB, much higher than the second highest bid of USD 297.50 per tonne FOB from Sweden based Ferro Met AB.
