Japanese Cos.moved up 50% in India
The number of Japanese companies in India has increased to 470 in February 2007 from 320 in January 2006 as Japanese companies are increasingly setting up bases in India due to improved investment climate.
According to Japanese Ambassador, Mr Y. Enoki "Japanese establishments in India have grown by 50 per cent in the last one year. Mr Y. Enoki was speaking at a function to confer Nakajima award on Dr V Krishnamurthy, Chairman NMCC (National Manufacturing Competitiveness council).
The award was conferred upon Dr V. Krishnamurthy for his efforts to promote Total Productive Management (TPM) initiatives in India.
The award was given by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at a special ceremony organised in Delhi.
Dr V. Krishnamurthy said that "India has learnt a lot from Japanese industry and professionals who started coming to India after the Maruti Suziki partnership. brought along a number of associates. Indian manufacturing industry has received tremendous support and help from Japan,".
