Prices for chrome based ferroalloys drift lower in China
It is reported that price for high carbon FeCr remains firm in domestic market while that for medium, low and trace carbon FeCr noses down in some regions.
FeCr55C800 is now quoted at CNY 6,200 per base to CNY 6,500 per base tonne in Shanghai and Sichuan and CNY 6,200 per base to CNY 6,700 per base tonne in Shanxi. Price stands at CNY 12,400 per tonne to CNY 13,300 per tonne for FeCr55C6 and CNY 11,600 per tonne to CNY 12,200 per tonne for FeCr55C25 in Zhejiang, and CNY 11,800 per tonne to CNY 12,200 per tonne for FeCr55C10 and CNY 11,300 per tonne to CNY 12,000 per tonne for FeCr55C25 in Jilin.
Though imported Cr ore price rose by CNY 2 per tonne, high carbon FeCr price keeps firm owing to weak transactions as well as the arrival of imported resources. Price for medium, low and trace carbon FeCr falls modestly in some regions due to bearish downstream markets and dull demand.
Large amounts of imported high carbon FeCr have arrived at Shanghai Port. It is said that another large number of imported resources will reach domestic ports in mid May. Producers of medium, low and trace carbon FeCr fear this will influence production costs and plan to reclaim funds so that they can maintain productions according to market operation in mid May.
Mysteel survey shows domestic Cr - series alloys still eye tight spot supply. Most producers produce products according to sales. Imported high carbon FeCr price now influences domestic high carbon FeCr price more than market demand.
