Chinese coke export price likely to move over US 400 $ per tonne
According to Mr Huang Jingan chairman of China Coking Industry Association, China may close down 20 million tonnes of coke production capacity in 2007.
Mr Huang said, driven by better coke market and some medium and large coking ovens are put into operation and from January to October 2007, about 33 ovens came in stream with coking production capacity up 16.78 million tonnes.
He said that in 2008, world crude steel and pig iron output will surpass 1.4 billion tonnes and 1 billion tonnes respectively, expecting to consume more coke.
The present coke export price from is over 380 US $ per tonne which is likely to go up further to 400 US $ 400 per tonne.
