China likely to be net aluminum importer by 2010
According to Mr Peter Finnimore, Sales Director of U C Rusal Company, China is likely to become a net importer of aluminum by 2010.
Mr Finnimore addressing a press conference said that China's aluminum demand will increase and capacity growth will slow down over the next two to three years, pushing the country to become a net importer of aluminium.
According to the Russian mining company, China is estimated to consume about 35% of global aluminum consumption by 2010, an increase of about 10% (from current share of 25 %).
This year, China is likely to produce approx 12 Million tons of aluminum which will account for approx 33% of the total global aluminium production.
