Ashok Leyland's MD calls fo innovation in Foundries to meet future challenges


Mr Sheshasayee, MD, Ashok Leyland & past President of CII during his inaugral address at the recently concluded 68th World Foundry Congress & 56th Indian Foundry Congress at Chennai asked the foundrymen to use innovations to meet the challenges faced by the foundries such as rising energy & material input costs & shortage of key inputs such as scrap & to adopt ecofriendly processes.

He also advised IIF to play vital role in this area.

To overcome the rising cost of scrap & to meet the shortages, Mr Sheshasayee advised that industry should develop technology for scrap recovery & the responsibilty for this should be on the industry generating the scrap & as well as on foundry industry & he felt that there is a great opportunity to recover scrap at reasonable cost for the benefit of the industry.

During his address, Mr Sheshasayee also said that the industry should continuously provide exciting opportunities for younger people to attract them & to retain them to meet the shortage of manpower.

Mr V. Mahadevan, M.D., Ennore foundries & President, IIF mentioned during his address to the foundrymen that there is going to be tremendous demand on the foundry sector to met the growing demand estimated to reach approx 10 million tonees in next 2-3 years which would call for fresh investments to the tune of USD one billions by the industry.
