American pig iron imports 10 months down by 1% YoY
It is reported that America imported 4.403 million tonnes of pig iron in the first 10 months of 2008 down by 1% YoY.
Brazil was the top provider of pig iron to the America at 3.14 million tonnes, up by 7.3% YoY. Shipments from Russia totaled 711,000 tonnes, declined by 28.3% YoY.
Moreover, America imported 3.211 million tonnes of scrap in the first 10 months, increased by 2.9% compared to the same period of 2007. Imports from Canada stand at 2.495 million tonnes, Mexico at 301,000 tonnes and UK at 223,000 tonnes.
