India to add 100,000 MW capacity in 11th plan - Mr Shinde
My Iris quoted Mr Sushilkumar Shinde India's power minister as saying that an additional power generation of over 100,000 MW is expected during the 11th five year plan period.
Mr Shinde said that 'The earlier projection was that the additional generation would be about 78,000 MW. But, after including output of independent power producers and that of renewable power projects and other sources, it was found that an additional generation of over 100,000 MW could be achieved during the 11th plan period."
He said that the country is presently having a shortage of 30,000 MW while Maharashtra is facing shortfall of 5000 MW. The orders for equipment needed to produce 90,000 MW have already been placed with the manufacturers.
