Hyundai Motors May shift part of Indian production

Hyundai Motor India is considering to shift production of one of its hot selling car models i20 to Europe after a workers'strike at its south India manufacturing facility that led to the arrest of 750 workmen. The move by South Korea's biggest carmaker is the result of labour unrest since the country opened to foreign investors in 1991.

A decision is expected this quarter. The company originally planned to produce 120,000 i20s this year at its south Indian plant, of which 80,000 would have been exported with a large chunk to Europe.
