Tata Motors to set up Auto-Training Institute at Singur

TATA Motors will set up an automobile training institute in Singur, at the proposed site for the company's small car project. The training centre will come up with in six months, & will impart training to members of families who have lost their land to Tata car project.

Tata Motors on Wednesday signed a MOU with West Bengal Industrial Devlopment Corporation and state technical and training department for setting up the institute. On the lines of similar existing training institutes at its other auto manufacturing plants in Jamshedpur, Lucknow and Pune.

According to Mr M. B. Paralkar, senior general manager (corporate HR) and head of Tata Motors corporate social responsibility(CSR) cell "Tata Motors will set up an automobile training institute at Singur. The institute will provide shopfloor training to students. It will enhance the employability of those who intend to pursue their career in automobile industry." The institute will provide both practical and theoretical training in the automobile sector.

The West Bengal state commerce and industry minister Mr. Nirupam Sen who was present at the MOU signing ceremony said , "As part of this MOU, we will also try to enhance the technical skill of the project affected local youth's to improve their employability."
