India plans to prevent influx of imported copper & aluminum
Date: 29/09/2020

It was reported that India had a scheme to prevent the influx of imported copper and aluminum into the domestic market; therefore, India announced its plan to require importers to register and report the import volume. The Indian government said that the move could help to track the import source and volume. The government can make an appropriate import policy only with actual import data. India’s main copper sources are China, Japan, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Thailand, and the import value from these countries accounted for 45% of India's total copper import value from 2019 to 2020. In terms of aluminum, the total import value of India's aluminum reached nearly US$4.4 billion from 2019 to 2020, of which China occupied the largest proportion.
